Recognized as a marketing and communications industry thought leader Dan has worked with more than 60 organizations in Canada and the U.S. in 14 industries and sectors developing effective, mutually rewarding and beneficial Client/Agency partnerships. He has vast experience in strategic planning, organization structure and staffing, workflow process, performance reviews, and compensation structures, both as a Client, an agency leader and consultant.
Dan is also an expert on Payment By Results and Agency Compensation, having co-authored Payment By Results and Best Practice in Agency Search and Selection publications, both published by the Institute of Communication Agencies (ICA).
With a degree in Economics from McMaster University, Dan also holds an MBA from the University of Western Ontario, Richard Ivey School of Business, where he majored in Marketing.
Dan began his career in marketing at Gillette, where he became responsible for that company’s two largest and most profitable divisions, followed by a series of senior positions at a number of adverting agencies in Toronto. Subsequently, Dan joined Petro-Canada, where he was responsible for corporate strategy, branding and marketing communications. As Director of Communications for the Olympic Torch Relay, Dan was also the strategic planner and conceptualizer of this very successful integrated consumer-marketing event.
Dan’s category expertise include: financial services, health and beauty aids, retail, hospitality, food and beverages, confectionery, automobiles, technology, petroleum / auto service, government, real estate, service operations and telecommunications.
Dan has served as a director on several boards in various positions over the years. He was most recently a board member with a medium sized printing company and a distribution company, both in southern Ontario.
